Video Tasting rating and Review of the 2007 Smoking Loon Merlot
Merlots are making a comeback
after the “Sideways” thrashing.
So I decided to take one for
the team and give a mass
produced corporate Merlot a
try, to see if the resurgence was
based on anything more than just
the ups and downs of the market.
Hmm, uhhh, maybe.
Here is the Wine Miser reveiw of
the 2007 Smoking Loon Merlot
from the infamous (to me) Don
Sebastiani and Sons.
1st, Love the label – brilliant.
alcohol – 13.5 %
Color – very nice lighter Plum
Smell – Off notes of Cinnamon and Turpentine and smoke
Initial attack – Blueberries
Mid Palate – Hollow,dry
Finish – abrupt
overall – Blueberries, cinnamon and smoke
Price – $8 at the Rite Aid in the Pearl (Portland)
Wine Miser rating – Uhh – 86 points for the price point,
it’s in the better half of what you can get.
